DESCRIPTION: Sauvignon Blanc is the most challenging
white grape variety - it is unforgiving and intensely rewarding.
The 2003 Nederburg Sauvignon Blanc is made in a powerful New World-style,
offering a broad spectrum of flavours.
The grapes were specially selected from vineyards located in the
cool wine growing areas and subsequently prepared reductively. This
resulted in a well balanced wine displaying both intense herbaceous
flavours, as well as delightful gooseberry, peach and tropical notes.
This wine is a perfect companion to rich seafood and creamy fish
dishes, chicken, veal, asparagus or any generous white foods.

DESCRIPTION: When Chardonnay was re-introduced
to South Africa more than a decade ago, Nederburg was one of the
first producers to plant this variety and it also undertook leading
research on clonal selection at its Ernita vine nursery.
The 2002 Nederburg Chardonnay is a full-bodied white wine in which
the wine character is not dominated by its wood components. The
combination of subtle citrus and apricot notes together with the
creamy and toasty flavours derived from partial barrel fermentation
ensures a pleasant palate and a lingering aftertaste. It is an easy
drinking wine, which should mature well over the next three to four
years, provided it is correctly stored.
Perfect companion for creamy fish or chicken dishes, seafoods,
veal or any generous white dishes.

DESCRIPTION: Cape Riesling is one of South Africa’s
first cultivar wines. Today it is the leading South African white
wine cultivar in the corked dry wine market with a 10 percent market
share.
This cultivar has its origins in the far south-west of France,
where it is known as Cruchen Blanc. At Nederburg, Paarl Riesling
started out as Select Riesling, changed in the early seventies to
Cape Riesling and then again in 1977 to Paarl Riesling.
The grapes for the Nederburg 2002 Paarl Riesling were harvested
from a widespread area in the Paarl Valley and picked at between
20 and 20.5 degrees Balling, with a total acidity of between 6.5
– 7.5 grams per litre.
The wine was made in the reductive style, as this variety is particularly
prone to oxidation. Only free run juice was used and fermentation
took place at temperatures of 13 degrees C.
The 2002 Nederburg Paarl Riesling is a dry, crisp wine with a good
fruity character. Made in a fresh and youthful style is ready to
drink now, but will mature well in the bottle.
The wine complements a variety of dishes such as tuna, roast pork,
roast turkey, veal/chicken - Cordon Bleu and most seafoods.

DESCRIPTION: An inspired blend of the two noble
white varietals – Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.
The Sauvignon Blanc, which dominates in this blend on both the
nose and palate, is made in a reductive way and is responsible for
the crispness and vitality. There are flavours of green pepper and
figs and delicate passion fruit. The Chardonnay is also very evident
on the nose.
The wine was fermented and matured on the lees in 300-litre oak
barrels and is now showing a mineral character and delicate buttery
flavours complemented by wood vanillas. The Nederburg Prelude 2002
is a complex wine with good structure and drinkability, supported
by an excellent flavour profile, delicate barrel-fermented character
and a generous mouthfeel. It drinks easy and leaves a fresh and
lingering aftertaste. Prelude has the potential to age for 3 - 4
years.
It can be enjoyed with seafood, fish, chicken and veal casseroles,
asparagus and creamy sauces.

DESCRIPTION: Prof.Abraham Perold, who succesfully
crossed Pinot Noir with the highly productive Cinsaut cultivar (also
known as Hermitage), developed this unique grape variety in 1925.
The result was Pinotage, South Africa’s own famous wine and
vine export, a unique grape variety with distinctive flavour and
taste characteristics.
The Nederburg Pinotage 2001 has an intense red colour and youthfull,
up-front fruit.
Is showing ripe berry flavours, good varietal character and a lively
cherry, raspberry fruitiness on the palate. The tannins are carefully
soft, leaving a long, ripe finish.
The wine is well balanced, with sweet, cherry fruit aftertaste
and wood vanilla extracted from both, 300 litre barrels and large
oak vats maturation.
It is ready to drink now but, like most Pinotages, will mature
well for seven to ten years.
Serve Nederburg Pinotage with pasta dishes, pizza, or excellent
with roast leg of lamb, bobotie or a hot buffet.

On the nose, plum and juicy berry are joined by cocoa
powder and vanilla. With ir, grilled meat aromas emerge. The palate starts
out a bit sweet with vanilla, but quickly picks up fruit, spice and charred
meat notes. All this in a package that is soft without being simple.
